If you are interested in joining the Backpacks 4 Aussie Kids team, then this is the

page for you!

It really does take a village to raise a child, so it doesn't matter which state you

are in, or whether you live in a country area or major city.

If you have the drive and determination to help our kids in crisis and you meet at

least the essential criteria, then please fill out the 'I'm Interested' form

below . . .

Essential -

  • working with children police check (at your expense, with a certified copy posted to HQ)
  • possible Federal Police Check
  • current or previous employer reference, or a character reference (non family member)
  •  cannot have been declared bankrupt in the last 5-10 years, (this is a govt. requirement in most states)
  • brief written application. There will be several questions that will give you the opportunity to express why you are interested in volunteering as well as expressing how you would be able to go about it, etc.
  •   Phone or Skype (preferred, with video) interview
  •  may be required to meet with a contact person in that area for a face to face chat

If you would like to be a drop off point you will still need relevant checks . . . but you would only be responsible for collecting the donations and packing them in boxes.

Then it's just a matter of dropping them at a courier depot!

Things to consider if you would like to be a Project Leader or share the position with someone.... are you able to commit to 6 -8 hours a week? (less if sharing the position)

Some other things to consider - are you willing to:

·     research the requirements for fundraising etc. in your local area or state if not in Qld.

·     storage

·     organise transport of bags to agencies if needed, (in rural areas for eg)

·     short summary each as needed to Des via email or phone outlining progress, concerns, issues, needs etc.

·     organise packing and sorting days in your area

·     agree to pack the backpacks and nappy bags in the way determined by the Project Team HQ.

·     drive and enthusiasm for assisting kids in care

·     have a phone, email and postal address available to put on the website, blog and facebook page

·     contribute one blog post a quarter and one initial bio and photo for the website

·     assist in admin of the facebook page
